- I'm currently a middle school art teacher and part time artist. I'd like to set the course of changing my position in art education in the next year or two to policy and dream of filling the lost role of arts director within the colorado dept. of education. i have a bachelor of fine arts degree (printmaking/pottery) from CSU and a Master of Teaching Secondary Art Ed. from Colorado College.
- Tell us how you feel about arts education
- I feel like quality arts education enables students of all types (this includes life long learner types) to use another tool to lead and fulfill a democratic lifestyle. I think the next step toward moving Colorado toward a more arts education friendly state is by strengthening the relationship between non-profit organizations and all public school districts. Policies need to be put in place to ease and support these relationships. Also creating added value to arts education by using art integration methods as a measurable tool for learning, comprehension, and retention for all students in all content areas.
